The senatorial candidate for the Ebonyi Labour Party, Linus Okorie, has been trending over an alleged kidnapping issue. The command’s spokesperson, Chris Anyanwu, confirmed in a statement on Monday that the politician was not kidnapped as had been previously believed but rather was arrested for a drug-related infraction. This is stated in a report that The Cable has released.

Speaking about what happened, police claimed that after being informed of his kidnapping, they swiftly sprang into action but found that Okorie was on the Ebubeagu Security Outfit’s watchlist.
They also reveal that the politician had avoided numerous police arrests and invitations to respond to complaints that he had consistently distributed false information about Governor Dave Umahi.
The spokesman for the Police Department emphasised: “It is also pertinent to mention that Okorie also has a pending case in which he is implicated in a drug-related offence where the suspects allegedly acting as his agents were arrested for hard drug sales and use at his City Hub Inn, Mile 50, Abakaliki.”
