In the midst of an ongoing internal crisis, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) officially launched its presidential campaign on Monday.
An enraged Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and his allies, who have not yet been appeased following the party’s presidential primary, just sent out a strong message to the rally.
Although this campaign kick-off was quite well attended, observers say the absence of Wike, Enugu’s Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Abia’s Okezie Ikpeazu, Benue’s Samuel Ortom, and Oyo’s Seyi Makinde is a major setback to the opposition party’s fantasy of recapturing the country’s number one seat.
Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, and former Vice President was present, as was his running mate and Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa; Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel; Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed; his Adamawa counterpart, Ahmadu Fintiri; and Dino Melaye, a former lawmaker representing Kogi West.
The Labour Party has rejected the viral campaign rally schedule.
On Monday, the Labour Party (LP) denied that a campaign rally schedule had been circulated on social media.
The party’s national publicity secretary stated that the timetable had not been approved by the party’s leadership or its presidential candidate.
A circulating OBI-DATTI presidential campaign rally schedule has been forwarded to the Labour Party.
“I hereby reject this campaign council’s legitimacy,” he concluded.
