The presidential candidate of the labour party, Peter Obi has continued to lament over the manner of conduct by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC during the presidential election which saw Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, emerging as the winner.
Peter Obi who was speaking on Channels Television pointed out that the chairman of the commission, Mahmood Yakubu had promised transparency and revealed that it will be there for the whole world to watch, as the election progresses.
The former governor of Anambra state who faulted the various issues which were reported to have taken place on the 25th of February 2023 noted that despite the huge promises Yakubu made, he was unable to fulfil his promises, even at a minimal level.
Speaking further, he said everyone has believed in all that was promised, and he had, on his advertised and spoken well regarding the process by which the electoral body intends to conduct the election, only for him to be disappointed.
In his words…”The chairman of INEC said it will be there for the world to watch. What else did we expect, he promised so much, and he didn’t even meet the minimal”
One will not be wrong to say that there had been reported challenges with the technical part of the commission during the presidential election, and this is despite the preparedness of the electoral body.
