The incident appears to have elicited a strong public reaction because it was unexpected.

The NDC party has come out to defend itself with shocking details regarding the incident.

As a result, the NDC is urging the government and the ruling New Patriotic Party to follow suit and seek to alleviate Ghanaians’ suffering.

“The ruling New Patriotic Party should remember that the challenges of the youth are a microcosm of the daily experience of the Ghanaian people, who must find methods to survive at a time when inflation is 33.9% and prices of products and services soar on a daily basis.

“The youth emphasized in the most direct terms the daily challenges of the vast majority of our people, who wake up every day without knowing where their next meal would come from.”

“Those young people simply gave voice to our daily hardships with exorbitant petrol prices at the pumps and the high cost of living in the country,” according to the statement.
