Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, is said to have told his aides and close allies to refrain from criticising Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, in an effort to defuse the tense atmosphere within the party.
An insider in the camp of the PDP has claimed that Atiku and his running mate, Okowa, are concerned that the ruling party may exploit internal divisions before the 2023 election. Those instructed to stop replying Wike included campaign spokespersons, former and current governors, Atiku close allies, and members of the BoT.

Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s embattled National Chairman, is a target of Nyesom Wike’s media attacks, which don’t appear to be stopping anytime soon. The Governor recently accused Ayu of lacking integrity and being corrupt during a media briefing.
In a further audacious claim, he threatened to reveal the identity of the governor who gave Ayu the money if the latter denied receiving the N100 million.
