A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and previous PDP candidate for governor of Abia State, Sampson Orji, has endorsed Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) for president.
In a statement provided to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Thursday, Orji made this disclosure.
He claimed that Obi’s competency was the reason he supported him over PDP presidential contender Atiku Abubakar.

Additionally, he said that Obi’s track record would be used to rally support rather than the fact that he is an Igbo man.
“I’ll support Obi because of what he stands for, not because he’s Igbo. I’m a PDP man until tomorrow. ” A social movement is obi. My loved ones and friends will vote for him.
“Obi is a better choice, yet Atiku is a good friend of mine.”

So advising me to back Atiku when we have Obi, who has proven himself capable of rescuing Nigeria from its current predicament is blindness, “he declared.”
Meanwhile, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom stated yesterday that he would have backed Obi’s presidential candidacy even if he were not a member of the PDP, citing fears about the party’s capability to contend against the other candidates in the 2023 race.
