Doyin Okupe, the Director General of Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organisation, has stated that the rally staged by supporters of the ruling All Progressive Congress in Lagos State cannot be compared to that of the Labour Party because it was not a Lagos rally and that the APC imported people from other States.
It was alleged that the Chairman of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, led a proposed five-million-man rally in support of the APC’s flag bearer, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, and also of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is running for a second term to stay in office.
The APC supporters’ unity rally came just a week after Labour Party supporters organised a similar rally in the same Lagos State.
Nevertheless, in a candid interview on Channels Television’s Programme, Doyin Okupe slammed the ruling party, claiming that they are playing “catch-up” to catch up to the Labour Party, claiming that detailed evidence of video from the APC rally revealed that some attendees were sourced from parts of Nigeria.
He said this while congratulating the APC on their efforts: “I’d like to thank the APC for their efforts today. What you witnessed was not a rally in Lagos. We are a sophisticated group, driven and powdered by youths.”
