On Sunday, the Osun state police command refuted social media claims that the convoy of All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was attacked in the state over the weekend.

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola, footage of the attack on Governor Adegboyega Oyetola during the EndSARS rally in Osun on October 8, 2020, was allegedly trending on social media and claimed to be an attack on Tinubu’s convoy.

The Osun State Police Command’s attention has been drawn to circulating news and social media footage claiming Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s convoy was attacked by Osun youths on October 8, 2022, according to the statement.

“The Osun State Police Command wishes to remind the general public that the news/trending video on social media was about 2 years ago, on October 17, 2020, and not October 8, 2022, as was maliciously distributed.”

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode, psc (now AIG), wishes to state that the news/video is inaccurate and deceptive, and that it is a deliberate act by some dishonest individuals to sow fear or unease in the state.

“To clear the air, I’d like to inform you that Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not recently visited Osun State for any reason.

“As a result, the CP enjoins the good people of the State to disregard the information and go about their legal business without fear of insecurity, as appropriate security measures to prevent any possible breakdown of law and order are in place,” the statement reads. The Vanguard reported.
