Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has refuted allegations that he bought his way into a “Distinguished Award in Infrastructure Delivery” from President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration by paying off high-ranking officials.

Several officials of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, received millions of Naira to facilitate the award, according to a source at the Rivers State Government House who talked with SaharaReporters on Friday.
He went on to allege that people from Rivers State were being brought in huge numbers to Abuja to attend what he called the fraudulent award.

“Governor Wike was given a bogus infrastructure grant by the SGF office. According to the source, the SGF used Buhari’s lack of awareness of his surroundings to bestow the bogus medal on him.
“We have begun to gather a huge number of Rivers locals to attend the prize ceremony. The governor and a huge number of people at the SGF office exchanged millions of Naira in cash. Wike abandoned the rest of Rivers State except for Port Harcourt.
