The MoH has formally announced the recruitment of 15,200 nurses and midwives, a critical step towards reinforcing the country’s healthcare workforce.
This was contained in a statement dated July 26, 2024, which indicated that the application process would commence on Monday, August 5, 2024, and end on Friday, August 23, 2024.
Interested and eligible candidates are to apply online through the MoH’s online application portal.
There will be a portal that allows any applicant to select his or her preferred agency under the Ministry, and this makes recruitment procedures easier.
According to the Ministry, the application process is totally free, and applicants are warned to beware of agents or middlemen who may demand fees for assistance.
Financial Clearance
The exercise has been given the necessary financial clearance by the Ministry of Finance, a factor that goes on to affirm the commitment by the government towards a strengthened healthcare sector, with a greater number of trained professionals at the disposal of the population.
This forms part of a broader strategy to ensure improved healthcare needs of the country, improving the delivery of services at various health facilities.
This happens at a time when the healthcare system is stretched by an unprecedented need for more nurses and midwives.
The Ministry intends to give better care to patients, lessen the waiting times, and ensure that health services are accessible to all citizens by bringing in more trained professionals.
As the recruitment period draws near, all eligible candidates are encouraged to prepare an application so that he/she may take part in it.
With the opening of the portal on 5th August 2024, which eventually will shut down on 23rd August 2024, prospective applicants should ensure that the applications are submitted within the stipulated time frame.
