Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima Thursday departed Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on an official state visit.
Stanley Nkwocha, a media aide to the vice president said Shettima is headed for Ethiopia at the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, His Excellency, Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali.
Nkwocha said, “During the visit, Vice President Shettima will participate in the official launch of Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Programme, a flagship environmental initiative.
“The programme designed to combat deforestation, enhance biodiversity, and mitigate the adverse effects of climate change targets the planting of 20 billion tree seedlings over a four-year period,” Nkwocha stated.
Throughout the visit, both country leaders would work towards strengthening the bilateral ties in agriculture and industrial development.
Shettima will also engage in a strategic tour of key industrial zones and integrated agricultural facilities across selected regions of Ethiopia.
These include the Adama Industrial Zone, Mojo Poultry Farm, Shera Dibandiba Mojo Family Integrated Farm, Lume Avocado Nursery Site, and the Bishoftu Pea Youth Farm.
In addition, the vice president and his entourage would be hosted by the prime minister to a State Dinner at the National Palace.
