After 25 years, former Benue lawmaker dumps PDP, gives reason

Hassan Saleh, a former member of the House of Representatives has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Saleh, who has been a member of the PDP for the past 25 years said the incessant internal crisis within the party has become irretracable.

The former lawmaker disclosed this in a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Aiono Ward 2, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.

Saleh represented Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu Federal Constituency in the Seventh and Eighth National Assembly.

Highlighting the level of loyalty which he exhibited throughout his time in the party, Saleh said the crisis within the party has continued in a downward spiral over there years.

“You are aware of my loyalty and dedication to the PDP since I joined party politics 25 years ago,” Saleh said in the letter.

Contributing, the former lawmaker stated that despite all the shenanigans that occurred during these 25 years, he remained loyal.

“And even expended substantial part of my hard-earned resources and time in building the party at both the local level as well as in the State,” he said.

He further expressed his regret over the PDP’s failure to resolve its internal differences in the last two years.

Saleh said the PDP had reached a crossroads and his decision follows deep reflection and consultation with his family and political associates.
