We can’t continue to normalise this scale of bloodshed


Former vice president Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the killing of over 50 people in different attacks in Borno, Plateau, Kano and Kebbi states.

In a statement shared on X, the two-time presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said the violent attacks and explosions that rocked the states are devastating.

Stating that these incidents are a huge blow the the collective conscience of Nigerians as a people, Atiku said the nation cannot continue on this scale of bloodletting.

“The heartbreaking reports from Borno, Plateau, Kano, and Kebbi where over 50 lives were lost in violent attacks and explosions are a devastating blow to our collective conscience as a nation,” Atiku said.

Also sympathising with families and victims of these attacks, the former vice president said these tragedies are not mere statistics but stolen dreams shattered families.

“My deepest sympathies go to the bereaved families and the affected communities. These tragedies are not mere statistics they are real stories of shattered families and stolen dreams.

“We cannot continue to normalise this scale of bloodshed. Nigeria urgently needs a decisive, people-centred approach to security, one that prioritises human life above all else.

“May the departed rest in peace,” Atiku added
