Fubara, Diri set to join APC
The Senate President, Godwill Akpabio has said that after the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, two other governors would be joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akpabio said the governors of Rivers and Bayelsa States, Siminalayi Fubara and Duoye Diri will soon be joining the ruling APC.
The Senate President made the disclosure while speaking at the grand reception of Governor Eno into the ruling party at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Akwa Ibom.
He also stated that more key politicians would be leaving the opposition party to join the APC.
He said, “After Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno, the Governor of Rivers will join the APC; then, after him, the Governor of Bayelsa State will also join.”
Also speaking during the occasion, Governor Eno said his decision to join the APC stemmed from his desire to align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
Stating that President Tinubu‘s administration is at the centre of growth and development in Nigeria, Eno said he is eager to rise to the top with the progressives.
Eno noted, “Progressive movement is predicated on the enlightened state interest and to support Mr. President to finish the bold and audacious economic reforms he has started.”
He further noted that becoming a member of the ruling APC party would give him the infrastructure drive in Akwa Ibom State.
Some of the initiatives of the governor including the Deep Sea Port project that have been lingering for as long as thirty years.
