Umar Damagum, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday directed Sam Anyanwu to resume duty as the National Secretary of the party.
The announcement was made by Damagum during a media conference at the National Secretariat of the PDP located at the Wadata Plaza.
“Anyanwu is resuming as the National Secretary, that is why I said it was a critical decision. Like INEC said they don’t have our notice, so what we will have on June 30th is an extended Caucus meeting,” PDP Acting National Chairman said.
Damagum during the conference also declared that the planned 100th National Executive Council meeting has been cancelled.
According to him, the meeting was cancelled following the issues arising with the provisions of the Constitution.
He further stated that the party will convene a National Caucus meeting on June 30, 2025.
In addition, Damagum said the decision of the party to cancel the meeting stems from its leaders meeting with the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
He said the commission had raised concerns that the party did not properly notify INEC as required by law.
“We will have an expanded Caucus, at the next Caucus we will take a decision leading to a proper NEC,” Damagum said.
Party leaders present at the conference include the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed; and the Chairman of the Reconciliatory Committee, Senator Bukola Saraki.
