The Akropong School for the Blind was founded on the premises of the Presbyterian Training College of Education, Akropong-Akuapem now known as Presbyterian College of Education in the early 1940’s by Reverend Ferdrick D. Harker, a Scottish Missionary tutor at the Presbyterian Training College and Mrs. Margaret Benzies, wife of the Principal of the college
