The government in Venezuela is demanding that the US provide proof that those in power Nicolas Maduro is still alive. Vice President Delcy Rodríguez said in an audio message played on state television that ““immediate proof of life” from Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores. It is currently not known where the USA took the two of them.
The government also requested a special session of the UN Security Council. Foreign Minister Yvan Gil wrote on Telegram: “In the face of the US government’s criminal aggression on our homeland, we have requested an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council.” The committee’s task is to “uphold international law”.
Vladimir Padrino, the Minister of Defense Venezuelacalled for resistance in a video message. “They attacked us, but they won’t break us,” Padrino said. “United, soldiers and the people form an indestructible wall of resistance.” All troops would be used for national defense. Vice President Rodríguez called on the Venezuelan people to take to the streets.
