Why I Decided To Tear My Written Prayer Requests

0

Media personality and actress, Toke Makinwa has revealed that she tore up her written prayer requests.

Speaking via her Instagram account, Toke disclosed that she tore her prayer requests because she realised that experiencing tragedy doesn’t make someone an enemy of God.

She argued that while she believes in the existence of God, she finds it challenging to comprehend the prevalence of suffering in the world.

The actress stated that her tweet should not be misconstrued, adding that she is not suggesting that God is incapable of effecting change or that prayer is ineffective.

She emphasized that God doesn’t owe anyone anything and that both positive and negative events occur in life.

Toke said that she tore her prayer requests because people are often obsessed with what they want God to do next, that they do not live in the moment whether good or bad.

According to her, “I know God is real but I struggle to understand why there is so much pain in the world, why good people die, why death has to be so excruciating, why does it seem like when you’re about to enjoy life, something goes wrong? Why do kids/young people die? Why were they born sef?

“Today I woke up and tore up all my prayer requests, cos the people that have a tragedy befall them are not God’s enemies. I have realized he owes us nothing. Good and bad happen to all. Just do your own bit and relax, life has already been programmed to happen how it will.

“Pls don’t misquote my tweet, I’m not saying God doesn’t change things or prayer isn’t good, I tore up my prayer requests cos we are often obsessed with what we want God to do next that we do not live in the moment good/bad which could possibly be our last.

“The people whose misfortune happens to also are loved by God. They also pray, they also believe. Life will happen as it’s been programmed to happen.”

It’s possible to make Ghana a pharmaceutical hub in West Africa – Bawumia assures Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Thursday, April 4 continued his engagements with key stakeholders, as part of preparations for this year’s elections.

He met members of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, in Accra, to throw more light on his policies for the industry and the nation.

During the meeting, he said “We’re going to change the duty structure and go into more of a flat specific duty. If you have a 40-footer container, you know how much you are paying in cedis. So, you take the exchange rate out of the matter and deal with it.

“We are also going to make sure that our duties in ports by policy cannot be higher than in Lome, which is our competitor. And right now, there’s a lot of diversion of containers to Lome because ours are higher.”

After the engagement, he further wrote on his X platform that the interaction also gave him further insight into issues of concern to members of the Society, which I pledged to include in my policy.

Italian President discusses issues on education, energy and security with Bawumia

“Transforming the industry and making Ghana a pharmaceutical hub in West Africa to start with, will be of enormous benefits to Ghana, and my government, by the grace of God, will focus on that.

“With a committed political will and the right investment to support the industry, it is possible to make Ghana a pharmaceutical hub in West Africa.”

Earlier, during a health walk organised by the WHO and the Federal Ministry of Health to commemorate 2024 World Health Day, the WHO Nigeria, Country Representative, Dr. Kazadi Molumbo also emphasized that any health deprivation should be treated as a human rights violation.

Molumbo made the call during a health walk organised by the WHO and the Federal Ministry of Health to commemorate 2024 World Health Day in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

He highlighted the founding principles of WHO, established 76 years ago, based on the fundamental human right to health.

“At 76 years ago as part of the United Nations, WHO was created by Member States based on the principle of human rights and based on the fact that health is a fundamental human right and it shouldn’t be a privilege,” he said.

“There have been many agreements, including agreements at the very high level of government and there is an agreement that health is a prerequisite.

Molumbo stressed the importance of acknowledging health as both a means and an outcome, citing achievements such as the eradication of smallpox.

“Today is an opportunity to remember that any health deprivation, should be treated as human rights violation. A child missing vaccination is a human rights violation. A mother dying while giving birth is not acceptable and should be treated as human rights violation,” he said.

BREAKING: Saudi Arabia announces Eid-el-Fitr 2024 date

On Eid el fitr day, Muslims wear new clothes, prepare delicacies, do charity and greet their family and friends. Many would say ‘Eid Mubarak’.

Furthermore, Eid el-Fitr is a time of official receptions and private visits.

All Muslims should attend prayers on Eid day as most scholars, based on strong evidence, think that it is Wajib (obligation).

One of the purposes behind Eid prayer is to provide an opportunity for a large number of Muslims to attend congregations in an atmosphere of religious piety. Apart from prayer, the Eid sermon (after Eid Prayer) has also been made an integral part of this gathering and the prayer.

An adult Muslim is expected to pay zakatul fitr before offering of Eid prayer.

Eid Solat (prayer) takes place in the early morning (after Fajr) on the festival’s day so you have to check with your local mosque for the prayer schedule in your area.

Nigeria’s Remedial Health unveils new app to power operations for neighbourhood pharmacies

0

Nigerian e-health startup Remedial Health, which develops solutions to make Africa’s pharmaceutical value chain more efficient, has unveiled an updated version of its customer-facing app, designed to function as an operating system for neighbourhood pharmacies and Proprietary Patent Medicine Vendors (PPMVs) across the continent.

Launched in 2020 by Samuel Okwuada and Victor Benjamin, Remedial Health delivers a range of technology solutions that make it easier for healthcare providers to access affordable and genuine retail medicines, consumables and medical devices from manufacturers and distributors.

In 2022, it took part in the Y Combinator accelerator programme, and raised both pre-seed and seed rounds of funding, which it followed up with US$12 million in equity and debt funding last year.

The startup’s new app comes with a digital POS terminal to support payment collection, virtual business accounts to receive payments, an in-built barcode scanner feature for recording product sales and store-switch functionality to enable the seamless management of multiple stores, as well as inventory management solutions for restocking and easily identifying short-dated products.

The app also offers comprehensive financial reporting to manage profit and loss, and data analytics to inform decision making. It has been designed specifically for healthcare businesses in Africa, with tailored features that have been designed to support effective decision making to drive business growth and profitability.

“Neighbourhood pharmacies and PPMVs represent the frontline of healthcare delivery in Africa but they have historically been left to their own devices to figure out how to be efficient and profitable. Our mission is to empower these essential service providers with the tools they need to manage day-to-day operations and seamlessly run their practices effectively,” said Samuel Okwuada, CEO and co-founder of Remedial Health.

“We spent a lot of time interacting with our customers in the process of delivering this product and the feedback has been great. We are excited by the opportunity to get the app into the hands of pharmacies and PPMVs across the country to support their ongoing success, as well as the health and wellbeing of the nation.”

In 2023, Remedial Health sold more than 300 million individual packs of medicines to 7,500 hospitals, neighbourhood pharmacies and PPMVs across all 36 states of Nigeria. Its customers also improved their profits by 30 per cent on average, with access to more than 8,000 vetted products at the same, or better than, open-air medicine market prices.

There is no sector in Ghana that is used for politics more than education – Ali Awudu

0

The President of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers, Ghana, King Ali Awudu, is worried about how the education sector in Ghana is being used for politics.

In his view, no sector in Ghana is used for politics more than the education sector.

This, he said, must stop.

Speaking in a yet-to-be-aired interview with TV3’s Kemini Amanor, he said “In this country, there is no sector that is used for politics more than the educational sector.”

The full interview airs on Sunday 10PM

He further stated that headmasters are unable to voice out the frustrations they go through in the line of their work for fear of being dismissed.

“No headteacher can come and sit here and make this discussion with you, he will leave here and go and his dismissal letter will be waiting for him,” he said.

Distance, disparity in teacher deployment are factors causing dropout in Junior High Schools – Kofi Asare

Track Cycling World Championships: Filippo Ganna sets world record to win individual pursuit gold

0

Italy’s Filippo Ganna set a new world record as he claimed men’s individual pursuit gold on day three of the Track Cycling World Championships in France.

It comes a week after the Ineos Grenadiers rider broke cycling’s hour world record – registering 56.792km in 60 minutes in Switzerland.

Ganna received a standing ovation after finishing Friday’s 4,000m event in three minutes and 59.636 seconds.

It is the first time a rider has ever gone below four minutes at sea level.

Ganna, 26, beat compatriot Jonathan Milan, who clocked four minutes and 3.79 seconds, at Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines near Paris to clinch his fifth world title in the event.

Portugal’s Ivo Manuel Alves Oliveira took bronze, as Great Britain’s Daniel Bigham – a former hour world record holder – finished fourth.

“I think it’s an amazing week,” said 2020 and 2021 road time trial world champion Ganna.

“I tried to do something special and I think I’ve realised one of my dreams.

“I tried to do the hour record and the individual pursuit record and now I need to celebrate and recover a little bit because it’s been a really testing season.”

Asked how he would celebrate his latest achievement, he added: “Maybe some beers, maybe a gin and tonic, maybe champagne. Who knows, we’re in France.”
