Tinubu condemns recent attacks in Borno, Plateau, Kano, orders security crackdown

President Bola Tinubu has expressed outrage over a string of violent incidents that claimed dozens of lives across several Nigerian states in recent days.
In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, the president described the attacks as “unconscionable,” and vowed that those responsible would face justice.
“I am deeply saddened and outraged by the series of tragic events that have shaken our nation,” Tinubu said.
He condemned the suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, describing it as a “cruel attempt to spread fear.” The attack, which targeted innocent civilians, resulted in multiple fatalities.
Tinubu directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to urgently provide support to survivors, while also extending condolences to the government and people of Borno.
The president charged security forces to intensify operations against Boko Haram insurgents and other terror cells in the region.
“I urge our security forces to intensify efforts to hunt down and rout the remnants of Boko Haram and crush their ability to inflict harm on soft targets,” he said.
On the killing of 12 wedding guests in Plateau State, Tinubu condemned the act as “barbaric,” noting that the victims were peaceful citizens returning from a joyous occasion.
“I have ordered the Nigerian Police Force to work with all relevant security and intelligence agencies to ensure that those responsible are swiftly apprehended and prosecuted,” he said.
He also tasked the Plateau State government to act decisively to break the cycle of violence in the state.
“Freedom of movement is a non-negotiable right of every Nigerian, and we will not tolerate any attempt by anyone or group of people to curtail that fundamental freedom through acts of extreme violence and fear,” he added.
Tinubu also reacted to the explosion at a scrap metal facility in Kano, which claimed five lives. He extended sympathies to the bereaved families and called for an investigation into the incident.
“This tragic incident highlights the urgent need for stricter adherence to workplace safety protocols,” he said, adding that relevant agencies have been directed to probe the cause and take corrective measures.
“To the people of Borno, Plateau, Kano, and Kaduna States, I stand with you in grief and resolve.
“We will not rest until justice is done and peace and safety are fully restored across our land,” he added.
The president concluded with prayers for the victims and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the country.
