Video footage capturing the moment the Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, Goodluck Ihemnacho, was beaten and forced to resign from office.

POLITICS NIGERIA earlier reported that Ihemnacho, one of the 23 LG administrators installed by the state’s Sole Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, made his exit known through a letter dated June 20, 2025, addressed to the Sole Administrator’s office.

The letter, which has since gone viral on social media, cites a return to private life as the reason for his departure.

However, recent findings alongside the footage seen by this newspaper paint a totally different picture. In the footage, Iheamnacho is seen screaming for his life as armed men were hitting him with sticks and forcing him to signe the resignation letter placed on chair in front of him.

Speaking on the incident, Ihemnacho revealed that he was forced to sign the letter or lose his life.

“I did not resign from my appointment as the sole administrator of Ahoada-East,” he said.

“I was attacked in my office, and the letter they brought was not signed by me. I know nothing about the letter.

“I want to tell members of the public that I did not resign as the sole administrator of Ahoada East, and any other information aired is null and void. I am still the sole administrator of Ahoada-East.”
