Friedrich Merz doesn’t get through, Sahra Wagenknecht is at the end – and suddenly it’s all about gummy bears. Five exchanges from the past year in the Bundestag

The exchange of words in Bundestag are becoming increasingly wilder: people are interrupting, bullying, insulting. Since this black-red coalition took office, the parliamentary presidency has had to intervene 102 times, significantly more often than before.
Then reprimands are issued, calls for order are issued, which, if repeated, result in a fine; in the worst case, members of parliament are expelled from the hall. The average since the founding of the Federal Republic is 69 regulatory measures – in an entire legislative period.
