The Israeli government recognizes Somaliland as an independent state. This was announced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Somaliland region, located in northwestern Somalia, has a long coastline on the Gulf of Aden. She met in 1991 unilaterally declared independent and has its own government, army and currency.
