A Monty Python would devour it straight away: pâté that decorates every table on toast, baguette or crostini. With vegetable butter it even fits into Veganuary.

This pâté can be stored in the refrigerator for several days.
Melt butter in a pan and sauté onions and garlic. Mushrooms
Add and stir well. Deglaze with white wine, season with salt and pepper and simmer until everything is soft. Drain the liquid, reserving the mushrooms and onions, and reduce it in a second pan until it has a viscous consistency.
Strain the mushrooms and add them back into the liquid. The pâté should ultimately have a spreadable consistency. Mix in the herbs and nutmeg and season to taste. Serve on crostini, baguette slices or toast.
