The Slovenian ski jumper Domen Prevc also has the second competition of the Four Hills Tournament won. Prevc achieved 143 and 141 meters at the New Year’s competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and thus distanced itself from the competition, as in Oberstdorf.
The best Germans were Felix Hoffmann, who came sixth after attempts at 134 and 136 meters, and Philipp Raimund (7th) who made it into the top ten. The Austrians Jan Hörl and Stephan Embacher completed the podium in front of 22,000 spectators in the sold-out stadium.
Hoffmann is now fourth in the overall standings. Prevc can now hope for a quadruple triumph. This is the only thing in tour history so far Sven Hannawald (2001/02), the Pole Kamil Stoch (2017/18) and Ryoyu Kobayashi from Japan (2018/19). With 619.8 points, Prevc is already clearly ahead of Hörl (584.8) at the halfway point of the tour.
Timi Zajc disqualified again
The competition ended prematurely for two Germans: both the two-time Olympic champions Andreas Wellinger (32nd) and former ski flying world champion Karl Geiger (33rd) missed the second round, as did Ben Bayer (43rd). Defending champion Daniel Tschofenig, who was second in Oberstdorf, didn’t get past ninth place and gave up second place in the overall standings to his teammate Hörl, while Embacher is third.
As in Oberstdorf, the Slovenian Timi Zajc was disqualified. The Slovenian was taken out of the competition before his first jump; again his suit was too big on the leg – this time four millimeters. At the start of the tour in Oberstdorf it was still three millimeters. Zajc also receives a red card after his second warning and is banned from the competition in Innsbruck on Sunday.
