An unusually large number of young academics are currently unemployed. What’s the matter? New data shows who is affected – and where there are still jobs for young professionals despite the crisis.
Amina Kaya* thought she had made it five times. The rejection came five times. Kaya completed a master’s degree in business informatics. Nevertheless, the 27-year-old is still unemployed after more than six months.
“I had a really good feeling after my studies,” says Kaya. Her qualifications are good, she has several years of experience as a working student and good job references. “Everyone told me all the time that people were desperately looking for people in IT.” She has since written more than 100 applications. She hardly gets any feedback or feedback even when asked.
