Before we delve into the depths of this evening, we should also note how nice it all was. No matter who you spoke to in Cologne’s Lanxess Arena before the concert began, everyone could immediately tell stories about how Xavier Naidoo’s music had “often carried him through dreary hours.” A man in his early 40s from Koblenz had tears in his eyes when he heard the song Please don’t stop dreaming came up, which was shown at the funeral of his sister’s boyfriend. The most common sentence fragments in the crowd: “May I have one time?”, “Excuse me”, “After you”, “Sorry!”. Friends laughed and pinched their butts in greeting, and the reporter, whose skin color was similar to Naidoo’s, heard several times – sometimes as a loving joke, sometimes sincerely surprised: “You’re Xavier’s brother” or “Man, you could be Xavier.”
Xavier Naidoo: “As long as he sings me another great song, I think it’s good”
