Shama SHS convincingly defeated defending champions Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) to secure a spot in the finals of the Western Zonal Championship of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) 2024

Shama SHS took the lead from the very first round, scoring an impressive 21 points and leaving GSTS and the other competing schools – St. Joseph’s SHS and St. Mary’s Boys SHS – trailing behind.
In the second round, GSTS, St. Joseph’s, and St. Mary’s all lost points due to incorrect answers in the speed race, while Shama SHS extended their lead to 27 points.

By the fourth and final round, it had become clear that Shama SHS had outclassed their opponents.
The Shama SHS students, who call themselves the “Evergreens”, celebrated enthusiastically, making it difficult for the quiz master and coordinators to maintain control.
At the end of the competition, Shama SHS emerged victorious with 34 points, while GSTS finished last with only 7 points.
This victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Shama SHS team, who have proven their dominance in the regional competition and will now look to make their mark on the national stage.
