The willingness to fly costs several hundred million euros every year. Nevertheless, there are always technical defects in the machines. What’s going wrong?

Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul had a long journey at the beginning of November: a direct flight from Germany to Colombia normally takes around eleven hours, and the minister wanted to fly from Hamburg to Santa Marta. But from the planned journey with the government plane nothing happened: According to the Foreign Office, there was a technical defect in the machine. The minister first had to fly to Bogotá on scheduled flights and from there to the coast.
It is not the first time that the aviators
Readiness to fly are defective and therefore ministers are stranded – or have to fly on with private airlines: for example Agriculture Minister Alois Reiner, whose plane recently had technical problems and had to turn around. As a result, he missed appointments in Nebraska. A year ago it was stuck then Economics Minister Robert Habeck in Portugal fixed, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock had to travel to Asia in 2023 Cancel Abu Dhabi.
