The general practitioners’ association has rejected the proposal for a contact fee for doctor’s visits. Other associations and representatives of the opposition parties in the Bundestag also expressed clear criticism of the idea. The chairman of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV), Andreas Gassen, had suggested a contact fee of three or four euros for each visit to the doctor. This could increase the income of the health insurance companies, he said Picture-Newspaper.
The chairwoman of the general practitioners’ association, Nicola Buhlinger-Göpfarth, described the proposal in the Funke media group’s newspapers as “tampering with the symptom without tackling the cause”. Fundamental structural reforms are needed; no country has such an uncontrolled health system as Germany. The proposal is anti-social and “completely in the wrong place,” said Buhlinger-Göpfarth.
