Just 3.6 percent of those with statutory health insurance use it digital patient file (ePA) active to view your own health data, upload older documents or limit the access options of doctors. That is only 100,000 more users than in July 2025. Meanwhile, Barmer says it has around eight million created ePAs and currently has around 440,000 active users. This corresponds to an increase of around 190,000 insured people. At the eleven general local health insurance companies (AOK) with a total of around 26 million existing ePAs, around 365,000 insured people have now created a personal health ID that enables access to the electronic patient file. That is 165,000 more insured people than in summer 2025.
