The car manufacturer Audi
delivered fewer vehicles in 2025 than in the previous year. The company announced that around 1.6 million vehicles were handed over to customers worldwide. This corresponds to a decline of around three percent. However, there was a “clear upward trend” in the last quarter of the year.
“Not just an intense competitive situation in China, but also the American customs policy “posed major challenges for the entire automotive industry and had an impact on international consumer behavior,” shared Audi with. Even solid results in other parts of the world could not fully compensate for this.
Just for them USA and Canada, the company reported a 12.2 percent decline. Audi does not have its own production facility in the USA and is entirely dependent on imports for its US business. In China Audi sold five percent fewer vehicles. In the People’s Republic, Western car manufacturers are under increasing pressure, especially when it comes to electric cars.
Record value for electric models
However, according to the group, there have been signs of relaxation since September. Global deliveries have since exceeded the previous year’s figures, Audi said. Incoming orders also developed positively: “In 2025, in Western Europe these were more than 13 percent higher than the previous year, and for electric models they were even up by around 58 percent.”
According to Audi, fully electric models reached a new record last year. Deliveries here increased by around 36 percent to over 223,000 vehicles.
Things also went downhill for the other German car manufacturers in 2025. Volkswagen sold 0.5 percent fewer vehicles across the group, Mercedes-Benz reported a decline of nine percent in its main car business to 1.8 million vehicles, BMW sold 1.4 percent fewer cars from its core brand.
