Traffic light government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) “stoically stuck to” their coalition agreement despite the Russian attack on Ukraine. In relation to this, Frei said: “We should learn from this and act more flexibly.” This may also mean “taking stronger countermeasures” in the difficult economic situation.
The President of the Federation of German Industries, Peter Leibinger, complained before Christmas that German economy is “in free fall”. It is the “most serious crisis in the history of the Federal Republic”.
