Joshua Aaron is a programmer. He developed the app ICEBlock, which people could use to warn themselves about raids by US immigration authorities. To start we listen to music.
THE TIME: Mr. Aaron, do you remember this song?
Joshua Aaron: Naturally! These are the Rosenbergs. That was my band! Late 1990s, early 2000s.
TIME: You were once a musician and played electric bass in a pop band. Now you’re suing the US government. How did you end up here?
Aaron: We were also a political band. Like Michael Moore’s film, for example Fahrenheit 9/11 came out, we stopped our show one evening to talk to the audience about world events. I have always been an activist. And I always wanted to know our history. I believe you have to know where you come from so as not to repeat mistakes.
