A German court on Wednesday ordered a life jail sentence to a palliative care nurse for the murder of 10 patients and attempted murder of 27 others with lethal injections.
The court in the western city of Aachen found the 44-year-old man guilty of the offences committed between December 2023 and May 2024 in a hospital in Würselen near Aachen.
The court also determined that the offences carried a “particular severity of guilt” which should bar him from early release after 15 years, normally an option in such cases.
Singapore is planning to introduce caning as a punishment for scammers.
During the bill’s second reading on Tuesday, Sim Ann, senior minister of state for home and foreign affairs, said the country lost more than $2.8 billion to scams from 2020 to the first half of 2025.
She added that around 190,000 cases of scamming had been reported during the period.
“We will introduce mandatory caning for scammers. Offenders who commit scams, defined as cheating mainly by means of remote communication, will be punished with at least six strokes of the cane,” she said.

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) says more Nigerians are actively supporting national security efforts as its intensified communication campaign has reached an estimated 32 million citizens in just three months.
The Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, stated this at the October 2025 Joint Security Press Briefing (JSPB) hosted at NOA headquarters in Abuja alongside the country’s security, defence and intelligence agencies.
Issa-Onilu emphasised the critical role of citizens must play in the fight against insecurity.
“Trust is Nigeria’s strongest security asset. When citizens are informed and confident, criminals have no hiding place.
