Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has spoken out amid tensions with the USA open to collaboration with the United States shown. “Wherever they want and whenever they want,” Maduro said on state television on Thursday (local time), with a view to possible talks with the USA on the areas of drug trafficking, oil and migration.

On one US attack on a port facility who, according to US President Donald Trump, was targeting Venezuelan drug boats, responded Maduro evasive. “That could be something we talk about in a few days,” he said when asked whether he was confirming or denying the attack. It was the first known US attack on Venezuelan soil.

Trump is currently putting Maduro under military pressure. Since September The US Army repeatedly attacks boats belonging to alleged drug smugglers in the Caribbean and the Eastern Pacific. More than 100 people have already been killed. The USA also positioned warships off the Venezuelan coast.

Trump accuses the Venezuelan president of controlling drug gangs and using them specifically against the USA. Maduro accuses Trump of wanting to overthrow him.
