The Swedish activist Greta Thunberg was during a demonstration for Gaza in London arrested. As the British campaign group Defend Our Juries announced, the 22-year-old is accused of using a poster to show her support for the organization Palestine Action, which is classified as a terrorist group in Great Britain.
Pictures and videos from the demonstration show Thunberg holding a sign that reads: “I support those imprisoned by Palestine Action. I reject genocide.” Police confirmed the arrest of a 22-year-old, but did not give a name.
A man and another woman were also arrested. They are accused of daubing a building with red paint. The protest was apparently directed at an insurance company that, according to the organization Prisoners for Palestine, provides services to the British branch of the Israeli defense company Elbit Systems provides. Prisoners for Palestine supports imprisoned activists.
Numerous arrests in the past few months
Thunberg is accused of violating British terrorism law with the poster, said a spokesman for the City of London, the metropolis’s historic core district. Palestine Action was designated terrorist by the British government in early July after activists invaded an air force base and sprayed paint on Royal Air Force planes.
