Katie Miller, the wife of one of the US President’s most important advisors Donald Trumphas a post on platform X Greenland caused irritation in Denmark. Miller’s post shows a map of Greenland in the colors of the US flag. Above it it says “Soon” in capital letters.
Denmark’s ambassador to the US, Jesper Møller Sørensen, commented under the post that his country’s “full respect for territorial integrity” Denmark demand. Denmark and the United States are “close allies and as such must continue to work together.” Greenland belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark, but is largely autonomous.
Trump regularly causes outrage in Denmark
In recent months, Trump has repeatedly talked about the takeover Greenland threatened by the USA. He also did not rule out the use of violence. Most recently, Trump took care of the Appointment of a special envoy for Greenland on the island itself, in Copenhagen and in the EU for outrage.
Trump argues with the security interests of the USA and refers to the alleged presence of Russia and China around the geostrategically located island. Greenland lies in the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans between North America and Europe. The island is on the direct route of a possible missile trajectory between Russia and the USA. Important ones are also stored in the soil of Greenland raw materialswhich have hardly been used so far.
