Jens-Frederik Nielsen: “Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders”


Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen has called for territorial integrity after appointing a US special envoy for his country Greenland to respect. “Greenland belongs to Greenlanders and territorial integrity must be respected,” he wrote on Facebook.

Trump appoints special envoy to Greenland

US President Donald Trump had previously appointed the Republican governor of the state of Louisiana, Jeff Landry, as special envoy to Greenland. On his Truth Social platform, the US President wrote on Sunday that Landry understands “how important Greenland is to our national security and he will vigorously advocate for our country’s interests.”

Since taking office, Trump has repeatedly claimed ownership of Greenland, citing alleged national security reasons. The US President had also not ruled out possibly taking Greenland by military force.
