The SPD is threatened with serious losses in the super election year of 2026, and the top is considered counted. One solution could be to start the reform engine. But the resistance is enormous.

No matter where you look, that Super election year 2026 should be for the SPD not going to be easy. In all federal states where elections will be held next year, it is currently doing significantly weaker in the surveys than at the previous election date.
It starts on March 8th Baden-Württembergthere has never been much to gain here for the SPD. Last time it was 11 percent, current surveys put it just below that. The attention is focused on that Prime Minister race between the Greens and the CDU – and of course on the AfD. The SPD will probably be secretly relieved if its result even reaches double digits.
