The entrepreneur Elon Musk claims to have been unaware of the sexualized images of minors generated by its artificial intelligence (AI) Grok. “I am not aware of any nude images of minors generated by Grok. Literally zero,” wrote the founder of the AI developer xAI on the platform X. Previously, users of the xAI chatbot Grok had discovered that the AI easily creates revealing images of people.
The platform X and the AI developer xAI – both owned by Elon Musk – are criticized worldwide. Grok can remove clothing from uploaded photos of real people or depict them in sexually explicit poses. These so-called deepfakes very often affect women, but are also possible for minors.
The images manipulated in this way are then distributed via X, where Grok is now implemented. At the beginning of January, Grok himself issued an apology on this platform in which he spoke of “vulnerabilities in our security precautions”. “The distribution of child pornographic material is illegal and prohibited,” the KI continued.
