The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno has said that he joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the interest of his state.
Speaking after his grand reception at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Akwa Ibom, Eno appreciated President Bola Tinubu for describing him as a rare leader.
He also appreciated the president for stating that he (Eno) is an exceptional leader with a great vision and wisdom.
According to Eno, the commendation from President Tinubu is encouraging for him as the governor of Akwa Ibom state.
Eno wrote on X, “Yesterday, I was officially received into the All Progressives Congress (APC) by our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who described me as a rare leader with vision and wisdom, words that deeply encourage me to do more for our people.
“Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the grand reception in Uyo, Mr. President assured me that my decision to align Akwa Ibom with the Centre will bring more dividends of democracy to our dear state,” Eno stated.
In addition, the governor said he also appreciates those who stood with him throughout his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
“This is not just a political move, it’s a bold, progressive step made in enlightened state interest, and I’m thankful to the thousands of supporters who have stood with me.
“Our Arise Agenda remains our guiding light as we walk this new path together,” Eno said.
